Complete Ursinus Fall Brawl Results
COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team participated in the 15-team non-scoring Ursinus Fall Brawl on Saturday. The Blue Jays had several solid performances in their second competition of the season.
The Blue Jays had three entries at 197 pounds in seniors
Miles Gilliam,
Karl Tayeb and
Isaac Morales with each of the three winning at least two matches. Morales fell in his first match, but rebounded to win four straight – all by decision – before being eliminated in the consolation semifinals by the eventual third-place finisher.
Â
Gilliam opened his day with a 63-second pin of August White of the Apprentice School. He split his next two matches and was then eliminated by the eventual fourth-place finisher.
Â
Tayeb opened with an impressive 21-6 technical fall victory over James Krigsman of WPI and then topped Alex Mirabella of TCNJ, 9-8. He dropped his next two matches to finish 2-2 on the day.
Â
In addition to the three performers at 197, the Blue Jays also got two wins from senior
Dane Morgan at 165 and sophomore
Henri Behaeghel at 285.
Â
Morgan topped Kyle McIntyre of TCNJ, 4-1, to open his day and added a 16-0 victory of Darek Dabbs of Apprentice to move into the quarterfinals. There, he dropped a tough 3-1 overtime decision to Jarrett DiGiantomasso of Ursinus to slip into the consolation bracket, where he was eliminated.
Â
Behaeghel dropped his first match, but rebounded to win two straight, including a first-period pin of York's Joe Soreco, before being eliminated by the eventual third-place finisher.
Â
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, November 17 when the Blue Jays travel to Springfield College for the Doug Parker Invitational.
