NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J.—No. 24 Swarthmore College Men's Swimming battled against three nationally-ranked teams on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference showdown, the first meet for the team since Dec. 2 and the first since returning from a mid-season training trip to Puerto Rico.
Swarthmore came up with head-to-head wins against to squads ranked above them nationally, beating the No. 13 Rowan University Profs 137-125 and the No. 20 Stevens IT Ducks 155-106. The Garnet competed admirably against the fourth squad in the meet, the No. 4 Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays, but fell 178-83.
Senior
Jeffrey Tse claimed first place in both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM. His time of 56.39 in the 100 breast was a personal best and is the fastest time in the conference this season by two seconds and is 23rd-best in the nation. His 200 IM time of 1:53.11 is also the fastest in the league.
Jeremy Rockaway set personal bests for himself in the 100 and 200 butterfly with silver medal finishes, and his 200 fly time of 1:52.14 is the tops in the conference.
Fellow freshman
Alec Lawless snagged three of the top-10 Swarthmore all-time marks with personal bests in the 200 free (seventh all-time), the 100 free (seventh) and the 50 free (ninth).
Michael Lutzker swam an NCAA B Cut time in the 1,650 free, clocking in at 16:10.78 for second overall. Lutzker also claimed third in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.69.
Sophomore
Alec Menzer finished in second place overall in the 200 free (1:42.96).
The Garnet return to conference action on Feb. 2 at Gettysburg.
