BALTIMORE – Gettysburg trailed just 5-3 at the seventh-inning stretch, but Johns Hopkins pulled away with six runs in the bottom of the inning, topping the Bullets 11-3 in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action Friday evening.

Josh Cubell (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) finished 3-for-4 to lead the Bullets (7-17, 1-7 CC) while sophomore
Ryan Augustus (Freehold, N.J./Princeton Day School) clubbed his team-leading third home run of the season.

Johns Hopkins (18-9, 7-1 CC), which is tied for first place in the Centennial Conference, won its eighth game in a row while completing a season sweep versus the Bullets.

The Blue Jays pushed across two runs in the first inning versus freshman starter
Dan Ball (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) before No. 8 hitter Austin Sacks drilled a three-run homer in the fourth to make it a 5-0 game.

Gettysburg broke up the shutout in the fifth, when Augustus launched a two-run homer against Hopkins starter Nick Burns to make it a 5-2 game. The Bullets scored another run in the inning on two singles, a hit batsman, and an error to pull to within two.

Will Wortmann (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) came on to throw a scoreless sixth before the hosts broke through with their big seventh inning, which was capped by a three-run homer from No. 9 hitter Dillon Bowman.
