Freshman
Adam Dias Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter School) captured three individual events for Gettysburg (6-0), which kept its perfect record intact and has now won nine straight dual meets dating back to last season. Dias touched first in the 100-breaststroke (1:00.25), 200-breaststroke (2:12.39), and the 200-IM (1:59.72).
Â
Mary Washington (6-2), which received votes in the latest CSCAA Division III national poll, won three of the first six events and led 61-51. But Gettysburg rallied to win six of the final eight, including a tight 200-freestyle relay in the final event that clinched the victory.

Junior
Ty Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]) and freshman
Ogden Leyens (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) added two individual victories apiece for the Bullets, as Dougherty copped victories in the 50-freestyle (21.28) and 100-freestyle (47.70) while Leyens prevailed in the 200-freestyle (1:44.79) and 500-freestyle (4:44.36).
Gettysburg was competing in its first meet since hosting the Gettysburg Invitational back on Dec. 2-3.

The Eagles led through the first seven events after rallying to win the meet-opening 200-medley relay by seven-hundredths of a second. Freshman
Josh Parker (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) answered with a victory in the 1,000-freestyle (9:59.60) before Leyens won the 200-free, cutting the deficit to one (28-27). But that's when Mary Washington sandwiched two wins around Dias' victory in the 100-breast to open up its 10-point lead.
Â
Dougherty halted the run with his 50 victory, and the Bullets trailed just 68-63 at the first break. It was the start of five straight Gettysburg wins, as Dougherty came back to nab the 100-free before Dias (200-breast), sophomore
Jakob Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) (200-backstroke, 1:58.76), and Leyens (500-free) followed suit as the Bullets went up 114-93.
Â
Mary Washington climbed back into it with a 1-2 finish in the 100-butterfly, pulling to within 118-108. But after the second break, Gettysburg came back to win the final events, starting with a victory by Dias in the 200-IM. The Eagles still had chance to forge a tie with a 1-2 finish in the 200-free relay, and both of Mary Washington's teams were neck-and-neck with the Bullets for most of the event. But Dougherty pulled away in the anchor leg to give Gettysburg the victory in 1:26.91 after Leyens, sophomore
Parker Sorenson (Evergreen, Colo./home-schooled), and sophomore
Francisco Nieves (Alexandria, Va./Edison) swam the first three legs.
