READING, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse opened up the 2019 season with a bang, beating the Albright College Lions 13-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Three Garnet players tallied a pair of goals:
Dylan Rittenhouse,
Austin Chang and
Andrew Estella.
Jake Ross,
Ryan Mulvey,
Zander Levitz,
Nathaniel Johns,
Liam Maniscalco,
Talbot Child and
Will Vespole all found the back of the net as well.
Ross led the Garnet with four assists for a five-point outing. Vespole pitched in a pair of helpers in his freshman debut.
Sophomore
Frankie Dillon was steady in the start, registering eight saves while allowing the three goals in 50 minutes in net.
Isaac Kleisle-Murphy closed out the game with 10 scoreless minutes.
Senior defender
Christian Vik led the Garnet with five caused turnovers, and freshman
Luke Ingersoll scooped up a team-high six ground balls.
Hunter Luber did yeoman's work at the faceoff dot, winning 13-of-15 draws.
Swarthmore started off the contest with a goal by Chang at the 13:17 mark in the first quarter. After building a 2-1 lead, the Garnet went on a 10-0 tear that lasted through the third quarter, culminating with a buzzer-beating score from Vespole.
Swarthmore plays its first home contest of the year on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Widener University.
