WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gettysburg College men's basketball team fell 77-54 in a non-conference tilt at Catholic University on Sunday evening.
 
Freshman Jack Rooney (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) came off the bench to lead the squad in scoring with a season-high 13 points, going 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Junior Nick Antolini (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, while sophomore Ewan Lancaster (Stewarton, Scotland/The Hun School of Princeton) chipped in career-highs in points (eight) and rebounds (six).
 
Jimmy Golaszewski led the Cardinals with 22 points and six rebounds.
 
The first half saw the Cardinals come out to a fast and early lead, going on a 16-1 run five minutes into the game. Over the next several minutes, the Bullets pulled within 12 (20-8) after outscoring the Cardinals 7-4. From there, Catholic was red hot as they led by as many as 25 points (42-17) with 1:29 left in the frame. The hosts went into the locker room with a 42-19 advantage and concluded the half by shooting 47.1 percent from the field.
 
The Cardinals proved to be too much on the evening, leading by 23 points or more for the entire second half. Rooney scored the last seven points for the Bullets, including a trey, in the final 1:46. Gettysburg made 46.4 (13-of-28) percent from the field in the second half to Catholic's 40 percent (12-of-30).
 
Catholic out-rebounded Gettysburg 42-35 in the contest and 13-11 on the offensive glass. The Cardinals shot 43.8 percent (28-of-64) from the field, while the Bullets connected on 35.1 (20-of-57) percent of its attempts.
 
Gettysburg is off until January 2, 2019, when it travels to Scranton for the final regular-season non-conference game of the year at 7 p.m.
