Newville, Pa. – Senior Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and freshman Amy Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) were the top finishers for the Gettysburg College women's cross country team at the Dickinson College Long-Short Course Invitational on Saturday at Big Spring High School. This is the first time since the 2015 season that the Bullets participated in the invitational.
Gettysburg finished with a combined team score of 147 to place fifth among seven teams that earned a team score in both the 4,000- and 6,000-meter races. The Bullets scored 89 points in the 4K to finish seventh among 14 teams, and they posted a score of 58 in the 6K to come in fifth.
DeMichael finished 34th among 119 competitors in the 4K, clocking a time of 16:34. She was followed across the line by freshman Emily Zames (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills), who placed 45th in 17:10, and sophomore Grace Bushway (Charlestown, N.H./Fall Mountain), who took 48th in 17:16.
Milner came in 19th in a field of 65, scaling the 6K in 25:30. Also figuring into the team scoring were senior Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North), who placed 21st in 25:35, and senior Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy), who was 25th in 25:45.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, September 29, at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
