The Muhlenberg track and field teams opened their outdoor season by taking six throwers to Virginia for the Lynchburg Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, and half of them either finished in first place or set a school record.
Senior
Julia Leep-Lazar (pictured above right) broke her own school record in the hammer, finishing eighth with a throw of 108-8½, nearly 10 feet better than the previous mark of 98-10 she set last year. Leep-Lazar also placed 10th in the discus with a very consistent opening series.
Senior
Alex Mitton (pictured above left) cruised to victory in the men's javelin; his throw of 177-6½ was more than 18 feet better than the second-place finisher. Â

Jess Voltaggio took the women's javelin by more than nine feet. Her distance of 127-9¼ has been topped by only one other thrower in program history.

Michael Havkins came in third in the discus at 151-5½ - more than six feet better than his season-opening throw last year.
Junior
Erik Berger finished 10th in the discus, and sophomore
Ben Miller-Sobel placed 13th in the javelin.
