McGarry Wins Mason-Dixon, McDaniel Finishes Second

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - McDaniel College men's golf senior Ryan McGarry was the only player under par as he took home low medalist honors at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Sunday at Waynesboro Country Club.

As a team, the Green Terror finished tied for second with Franklin & Marshall with a 593, four strokes behind Gettysburg who won the team title with a 589. York (Pa.) finished fourth while Dickinson rounded out the top five.

McGarry earned his first individual title this season and the fourth of his career. He carded an even par 72 in Sunday's final round after leading the 104-player field with a three-under 69 in Saturday's first round. He has shot par of better in six out of nine rounds this season. He now has 17 rounds of par or better in his career.

McGarry, who was named Centennial Conference Golfer of the Week on Tuesday, won the tournament by three strokes over Franklin & Marshall's Chris Dorey who had an even-par 144.

Freshman Charlie Dolan posted his second top 10 finish this fall and his first in the top five as he carded a one-under par on Sunday to finish tired for third with a 145. He led the tournament with 27 pars and moved up six spots on the leaderboard during the final round.

In his first collegiate appearance, freshman Ethan Crabb  finished tied for 12th with sophomore Hogan Shulze as both totaled a four-over par 148. Crabb had a tournament-high eight birdies over the two days and carded a two-under par 70 in Saturday's opening round. Meanwhile, Schulze fired an even-par 72 on Sunday to register his fourth round of even par or better out of nine this season.

Junior Evan Rutherford finished tied for 34th with a 152 as he shaved six shots off his opening-round 79, improved 12 spots on the leaderboard with a one-over par 73 on Sunday.

McDaniel concludes its fall schedule at the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Ogelthorpe Oct. 10-11.
