ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Fontaine McFeaters (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) fired an 83 to place second overall and lead the Gettysburg College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Gettysburg Invitational at Hanover Country Club Saturday.
Gettysburg tallied a team score of 369 to finish nine strokes off the pace set by Stevenson University. Marymount (Va.) University was second at 367. Stevenson's Laura Rentz claimed medalist honors with an 82 on the par-73, 5,832-yard course.
McFeaters finished one stroke off her personal low with her best round of the fall. She carded a pair of birdies on the par-5, 435-yard seventh and the par-4, 361-yard 16th to go with eight pars.
Sophomore
Skylar Frankiewicz (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) tied for fourth with an 87. Frankiewicz birdied the par-4, 304-yard 15th and posted eight pars. Junior
Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) turned in the third-best round of her career with an 88 to finish in a tie for sixth. Marini carded identical 44s on both the front and back nine of the course.
Rounding out the starting lineup was senior
Caroline McDonald (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) with 111. Three Bullets also competed as individuals with junior
Virginia Martin (Pearland, Texas/Dawson) shooting 104, freshman
Lindsay Waller (Perry, Mich./Perry) shooting 112, and senor
Emma Feeney (Wyncote, Pa./Mount St. Joseph Academy) shooting 126.
