HAVERFORD, Pa.–Members of the Swarthmore College men's indoor track and field team opened the 2017-18 campaign today at the Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova University on the campus of Haverford College.
In the shot put, junior
Jared Hunt nearly matched his personal best with a throw of 14.50 meters, which was second at the meet and currently third-best in Division III.
Ryan Marrone (13.53 m) and
Andrew Jansen (13.37 m) finished fourth and fifth in the event, respectively.
Benjamin Warren raced to sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.25 while
William Colgan was third in the mile in 4:42.53.
Vaughn Parts placed fifth in the 3k as the Garnet's lone representative in the event.
First-years Alex Flowers and Max Park finished third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault during their first collegiate competition. Flowers cleared 1.80 meters while Park achieved 3.50. In the 60-meter dash,
Adil Belgaumi was Swarthmore's top finisher with a mark of 7.50 seconds.
Swarthmore resumes its schedule on Saturday, Jan. 13 when it travels to Franklin & Marshall for the Coach I Open.
