ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The No. 20 Gettysburg College women's basketball team overcame a 13-point deficit to comeback and defeat Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg College Wednesday night in Memorial Hall to remain perfect in conference play.
 
The Bullets (13-2, 10-0 CC) have now won 25 straight conference games with tonight's victory. The last league loss was against Haverford College back on January 9, 2018.
 
Senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) led the way for the Bullets as she netted a team-high 22 points, including going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line, grabbing eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Dorshimer nearly missed the record for most free throws without a miss. Caroline Murphy '14 holds the record with 12 that she hit against Franklin & Marshall College back in 2014.
 
Junior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) logged in 13 points, hitting 4-of-9 from the field, seven rebounds, three assists, and a blocked shot. Nine Bullet players in total scored in tonight's game.
 
Ny Thomas came off the bench to lead the Mules with 12 points, while Tara Szawaluk added 10 points.

A jumper by junior Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and a 3-pointer from Gehrin propelled a 5-0 run to start the first quarter for the Bullets. The advantage was short lived as Muhlenberg came up with the next eight points, which included hitting back-to-back threes, to take the lead 8-5. The Mules started running from there as they continued to dominate on the offensive side, closing out the frame with a 7-0 run to hold a 23-12 lead heading into the second quarter. The Mules shot 53.3 percent from the floor, holding the Bullets to 38.5 percent.    
 
The second quarter was the complete opposite as the Bullets outscored the Mules 16-12, shooting 50 percent from the field, while Muhlenberg shot 28.6 percent from the floor. A trey by Dorshimer a 1:45 into the second quarter cut the lead down to eight (23-15), but then the Mules rallied a 7-2 run to hold the largest advantage of the game to 13. Gettysburg responded by engineering a 9-0 run to come within four with 2:03 left in the period. Muhlenberg outscored the Bullets 5-2 in the last 1:15 to take the 35-28 advantage heading into halftime. Dorshimer scored 12 points in the period for the Orange and Blue.    
 
Senior Teal Tasker (Chambersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) and junior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) each banked a trey with Gehrin connecting on a layup to start the third quarter with an 8-2 run to slice the deficit to one (37-36). For nearly three and a half minutes, the Bullets didn't score, while the Mules tacked on six-straight points, extending the lead to seven. Muhlenberg's Emily O'Mahoney made a layup with three seconds left to push the advantage 45-41 at the end of the period.
 
The Bullets continued to fight their way back into the game as freshman Seanna McNamara (Berwyn, Pa./The Episcopal Academy) tallied a clutch 3-pointer to give Gettysburg its first second half lead (49-48) with 6:29 showing. Over a minute and a half later, Muhlenberg regained the lead off a jumper from Tara Szawaluk. Freshman Christina Richson (Summit, N.J./Summit) then answered with a trey to pull Gettysburg back ahead with 3:40 to go. 19 seconds later, Szawaluk hit one from 3-point range to take the lead, once again. Sophomore Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) scored a layup at the 2:56 marker to put the Bullets back on top, and from that moment until the end of the game, Gettysburg never trailed again.   
 
The Mules (9-6, 5-5), who dropped their sixth-straight decision, took the narrow 42-39 advantage on the boards. The Bullets finished the game by going 20-of-48 (41.7 percent) from the field, 10-of-25 (40 percent) from beyond the arc, and an astonishing 15-of-16 (93.8 percent) from the charity stripe. Muhlenberg went 20-of-71 (28.2 percent) overall, 8-of-24 (33.3 percent) from the three-point line, and 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) from the free throw line.
 
Gettysburg continues conference play on the road, when it travels to Johns Hopkins for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.
