LEXINGTON, Va.
– Sophomore Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) won the heavyweight championship for the second year in a row and Gettysburg College placed second overall in the team standings at the Washington & Lee University Jim Crytzer Invitational on Saturday.

Powered by nine top-six finishes, Gettysburg racked up 102.5 points to finish second at its second consecutive tournament. John Carroll University took home the team title with 152 points.

Four Bullets wrestled for titles with Triandafilou taking home the fourth individual championship of his career. The sophomore, who came into the event ranked fifth in the nation, posted a first-period pin (2:21) in his opening bout before logging 2-1 and 5-1 decisions. In the final matchup with Matthew Kaminer from Washington & Lee, the two heavyweights exchanged escapes in regulation to send the match to overtime. Triandafilou improved 11-0 all-time in overtime bouts by scoring an escape and then maintaining control of Kaminer in the tiebreaker period. He moved to 9-0 this season.
