Box Score 4 Spring break 2019 is just over the midway point for Bethel Athletics as many teams have made their way to warmer climates for the week away from the Bethel University campus in Arden Hills. It was another successful day for Bethel as softball captured two comeback wins while baseball gutted out an extra inning victory over Johns Hopkins. In addition to reading our daily blog here on

Softball: Bethel 9, Plattsburg State 6 (Box Score) | Bethel 7, Concordia (Wis.) 6 (Box Score)
Bethel trailed 5-3 twice on Wednesday before sparking a comeback to sweep the day.
The Royals surrendered four runs in the opening frame to Plattsburgh State before a three-run second made it 4-3. When they say all good things come in threes they weren't lying. Bethel went on to score three runs in the fourth and sixth inning to record a 9-6 victory.
Ellie Rogers secured the win in the circle while
Hannah Schmidt picked up the save with a scoreless seventh out of the pen.
Against Concordia (Wis.), the Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. The Falcons responded back with four runs in the second and a run in the third to take a 5-3 lead. Both teams went scoreless in the next two frames before the Bethel bats came back alive from their slumber in the sixth. Doubles by

Alexa Hanowski highlighted the four-run inning. Schmidt picked up the win in the circle improving to 4-0 on the year while Calli Make collected the save.
Baseball: Bethel 9, No. 9 Johns Hopkins 8 (10 innings | Box Score)
Late rallies have been the theme of the day and the Royals kept that tradition rolling. Johns Hopkins jumped on BU early with a four-run first. The Royals came firing right back with a three-run second that saw Mitch Jerde double to the gap in left center to drive in two.
Runs in the home half of the fourth and seventh gave the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead which sparked a rally into Bethel. The Royals strung together two runs in the eighth to pull within one. BU held Johns Hopkins off the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning setting up the prefect opportunity for a comeback. Singles by

Nicholas Wibben helped BU take an 8-6 lead. The No. 9 ranked Blue Jays gave it right back with two runs forcing extra innings where it was all BU.
Caleb Brandt took a hack at the first pitch he saw sending it deep enough to center to allow
Mitch Butvilas to score from third.
Connor Malcolm took to the mound in the 10th where he shut the door on the Blue Jays with a pair of strikeouts.
Women's Tennis: Bethel 9, St. Lawrence 0
The Royals captured their seventh shutout of the season in defeating St. Lawrence. Maggie and
Grace Riermann picked up an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot to get things rolling for the Royals.
Bethel dominated the top three singles once again while
Jill Weinzettel won 6-4, 6-3.
Meghan Schuler battled through the No. 6 singles with a three-setter 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.
Men's Tennis: St. Lawrence 6, Bethel 3
Hunter Fernelius led the way becoming the men's all-times win leader with 124 career wins. With
Jason Reilly they took the No. 1 singles match 8-3 to pick up the lone doubles win for BU. Fernelius and Reilly then both took their respective singles matches
