KINGS POINT, N.Y. (February 1, 2017) – Powered by pins at 133 and 141, the No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team kept its undefeated season alive Wednesday night with a 25-24 road win over the Merchant Marine Academy. 

The win moved Stevens to 20-0, and extended its overall win steak to 34. The victory was also the 10th straight against a Centennial Conference opponent. 

A forfeit win for senior Rob Murray at 125 opened a 6-0 lead, followed by pins for freshman No. 1 Troy Stanich at 133 and freshman Dylan Van Sickell at 141. Stanich's fall came with time expiring in the first period, while Van Sickell recorded his early in the second.

For Stanich it was his team-leading 17th of the season to go along with the 12th for Van Sickell.

Junior No. 10 Zach Wilhelm continued the early run with a 6-2 decision win at 149 to make it 21-0, before sophomore No. 7 Thomas Poklikuha picked up the major at 157 in a 10-2 win as the lead ballooned to 25-0 at the halfway point of the match.

Merchant Marine rallied with a pair of decision victories at 165 and 174 to cut into the Ducks lead, followed by a forfeit at 184 and pins at 197 and 285 to make it a one-point match. The deficit was too much to overcome however as Stevens' damage over the first five matches proved to be enough to sustain the win. 

Stevens will wrap up its regular season Saturday in Lexington, Va. for dual matchups against Johns Hopkins and Washington and Lee.
