LANCASTER, Pa.—The win streak to open the 2018 season came to an end on Saturday for Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse. The Garnet (4-1) took their first loss of the season, falling 16-7 on the road against No. 8 Franklin and Marshall College.
Swarthmore led 3-2 after the first 10 minutes of action, but F&M responded with six straight goals to close out the first half up by five.
The Garnet struck first in the second half on an extra-strength goal by Tess Wild at 24:09, cutting F&M's lead to 8-4.
The Diplomats then strung together five consecutive goals to keep the Garnet at bay.
Wild and freshman Mackenzie Frost led Swarthmore with two goals each. Elizabeth Wainwright, Kathryn Restepo and Sophie Peipher also scored a goal.
Wild recorded three of Swarthmore's five draw controls, and Sadie Camilliere led Swarthmore with four caused turnovers.
In goal, Betsy Cohen recorded 10 saves. She faced forty shots in all.
Swarthmore returns to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Widener University.
