Messiah Invitational Results
GRANTHAM, Pa. and PRINCETON, N.J. – Three members of the Gettysburg College men's track and field team competed at two different meets on Friday.
At the Princeton University Sam Howell Invitational, sophomore
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) performed well in the 800-meter run. Despite battling cold and windy conditions, he set a personal record with a time of 2:00.06 to win his heat and place 25th overall among 45 Division I, II, III, and unattached athletes. Petrecca ran negative splits, clocking a 1:00.20 for his opening 400 before closing in 59.87.
At the Messiah College Invitational, junior
Thomas Clark (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Poly Prep) completed his first decathlon of the season, competing in the final five events on Friday and finishing with a score of 4,156 points. He posted his highest point totals in three of his five events on Thursday, scoring 556 points in the 100-meter dash (12.50) and 544 points in both the long jump (19- 1/2) and the 400-meter dash (56.39).
Sophomore
Mike Cortese (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddon Township) also competed and placed 14th in the discus (108-1).
The rest of the team will compete on Saturday as the Messiah Invitational continues.
