Short Story: Carlos Leyva earned a 4-0 decision at 285 pounds to break an 18-18 tie, sending No. 11 Ferrum College to a 21-18 come-from-behind victory over No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team Saturday. The victory by the Panthers snapped Stevens' dual meet winning streak at 37.
How it happened: Stevens earned victories at 125 pounds, 133 pounds and 141 pounds to open the dual with a 14-0 lead. The Ducks collected a pair of major decisions and a fall to jump out to an early lead. Ferrum earned wins at each of the eight remaining weight classes to storm back for the victory.
The victories by junior Joey Borai, sophomore Troy Stanich and senior Zach Wilhelm extended their unbeaten streaks to open the 2017-18 season.
The Ducks last dual meet defeat was to then-No. 16 Baldwin Wallace University at the Waynesburg Duals on December 12, 2015.
