FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Gettysburg College men's golf team faced some of the best teams in the country at the DIII Showcase, which concluded this afternoon at the Donald Ross Course. Gettysburg finished in 14
th place with a 610 (309-301). The tournament was scheduled to be 54 holes, but inclement weather eliminated a round yesterday.
Cam Deiuliis (Highland, Md./River Hill) led the Bullets with an 8-over 148 (72-76) and he finished in a tie for 23
rd place. He made five birdies and 20 pars.
Kenyon College and No. 6 (Golfstat Division III relative ranking) Carnegie Mellon University finished in a tie for first place as both schools carded a 574. No. 9 University of the South finished in third place with a 578. Ten of the 20 schools in the field were ranked in the latest Golfstat Division III top 25, including six in the top 10.
William Knauth of Carnegie Mellon earned medalist honors as he topped the 100-man field with a 3-under 137 (70-67). Jimmy Morton of Illinois Wesleyan University and Armand Ouellette of Kenyon finished in a tie for second place with a 139.
Graeme Hollingshead (Basking Ridge, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) shot an 11-over 151 (80-71). His final round 1-over 71 propelled him up 24 spots on the leaderboard as he tied for 46
th place.
Evan Drummond (Exton, Pa./Downington East) finished with a 156 (78-78) while
Hayden Moffat (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) trailed by one shot with a 157 (81-76).
Thibault Eelen (Waregem, Belgium/Sint-Paulus School Campus College Waregem) rounded out the team with a 158 (79-79).
The Bullets close out the regular season by hosting the Gettysburg Spring Shootout at the Penn National Golf Club at Fayetteville, Pennsylvania April 15-16.
