On the first of two trips to Maryland in a span of three days, the Muhlenberg women's basketball team fell at Johns Hopkins, 76-63.
Despite the loss, the Mules (14-8, 10-7), who travel to Washington College for a makeup game on Monday, are still in the driver's seat for a Centennial Conference playoff berth. They can secure a berth by winning two of their three remaining regular-season games, and if they will all three they will be no worse than the fourth seed.
Last time Muhlenberg played the Blue Jays (20-3, 16-2), it was 34-9 midway through the second quarter. The Mules made it more of a game this time, leading 19-18 at around the same point after competing a 7-0 run.
Senior
Sara Dilly (pictured above) made a pair of free throws with 1:47 left in the half to bring Muhlenberg to within a point at 26-25. Hopkins hit a three on its next trip, led 32-28 at the half and built a double-digit lead in the third quarter.
The Mules cut the gap to seven with 6:44 left in the fourth before the Blue Jays pulled away again.
Sophomore
Ny Thomas scored a career-high 19 points, all in the second half. Junior
Ashley Polera and freshman
Mikaela McGarvey netted 10 points apiece, and Dilly finished with 8.
