No. 16 Men's Basketball Rolls Past Shoremen

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Basketball cruised to an 84-61 road win on Wednesday night against the Washington College Shoremen.

Point guard Cam Wiley led the Garnet's victorious effort with 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor and a 6-for-6 night from the free-throw line. Wiley's defensive effort included two steals and a season-high two blocked shots.

Zac O'Dell went a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor for 14 points. George Visconti added 11 points in 18 minutes, and Abass Sallah pitched in 10 points off the bench.

Ryan Ingram led the team in assists with five, and Nate Shafer pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Washington College, fresh off of a win over league-leading Johns Hopkins University, dipped to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in conference play. Logan Bunch led the Shoremen with 10 points.

Swarthmore's defense shut down the Shoremen and held them to 32.3 percent from the floor and just 17.6 percent from deep. The Shoremen were more successful at their unguarded attempts from the charity strip, going 18-of-20.

Swarthmore had just nine attempts from the stripe, but sank eight of them. The Garnet were very successful from the floor, connecting on 58.2 percent of their shots and went 12-of-27 (44.4 percent) from 3-point range.

Swarthmore ran out to a 7-0 lead to start the game and established a 26-point lead by halftime. The lead reached its largest at 33 points after a Conor Harkins 3-pointer with 16:14 to play in the second half.

Up next for the Garnet is a home game on Saturday against Gettysburg at 3 p.m. Swarthmore invites fans to participate in their Hoops for Hope sneaker drive at that game by bringing a pair of new or lightly used sneakers.
