The Muhlenberg women's basketball team came back from 10 points down on the road against a team that made the NCAA Tournament last year to defeat Skidmore, 49-46 in overtime, in its 2018-19 season opener.
The Mules trailed 18-8 in the final minute of the first quarter but came storming back in the middle two periods, outscoring the Thoroughbreds 26-13 to take a four-point lead into the final stanza.
Skidmore tied the game at 43-all with 51 seconds left in regulation, sending the Mules to their first-ever season-opening overtime game.
Muhlenberg trailed, 46-43, two minutes into the extra period but did not allow another point. Senior
Carley Hamilton got the Mules within one by making a layup with 2:45 left. After a series of empty possessions by both teams, junior

Madison Kirchofer in transition for a layup to gave Muhlenberg a 47-46 edge with 44.7 ticks remaining.
After both teams missed free throws, Skidmore took a three-pointer with the clock winding and missed. Junior
Emilie Benton grabbed the defensive rebound with 3.8 seconds left, and junior
Emily O'Mahoney sunk two free throws to provide the final margin.
Senior
Sara Dilly stole the ensuing inbounds pass to seal the win.
