LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) and freshman
Corey Palazzolo (Colts Neck, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) collected victories as the Gettysburg College men's indoor track and field team performed at the Franklin & Marshall Little Dip Invitational on Friday evening.
The meet was the team's first in nearly two months, as the Bullets last competed in its season-opening meet at Franklin & Marshall Open back on Dec. 1.
No team scoring was kept at the event.
Leading Gettysburg in the field was Palazzolo as he captured first in the high jump (6-00.75) and seventh in the triple jump (38-07.50).
Freshman
Fredrick Tubula (Narok, Pa./Friends Select School) registered fourth-place in the triple jump (41-10.75), which is now the sixth best mark in Gettysburg history. Freshman
Scott McGrath (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) also competed in the event and placed eighth (36-04.00).
Also notching top 10 finishes in the high jump were sophomore
Nicholas Grissinger (Palmrya, Pa./Milton Hershey) and freshman
Matthew Weller (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), placing fifth (5-08.75) and tied for sixth (5-07.00), respectively. Weller also competed in the 300-meter dash and placed third, clocking 39.79 for the fourth best time in Gettysburg history.
Freshman
Stephen Kostohryz (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) had a solid meet for the Bullets as he registered 10th place in the weight throw with a toss of 36-07.50. With his mark, it puts him at eighth all-time in Gettysburg history.
Junior
Ken Barnes (Edison, N.J./Westminster School [Conn.]) placed fourth in the long jump, soaring 20-02.25.
In the pole vault, freshman
Thaddeus Karaman (Sherburne, N.Y./Sherburne-Earlville) finished eighth (10-11.75) and junior
Noah Bale (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum School) claimed ninth (10-11.75).
Four Bullets finished in the top-10 of the mile run with Petrecca leading the charge as he won the event with a time of 4:28.49. Sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, PA./Central Bucks East) notched fifth (4:40.29), sophomore
Jack Kenyon (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) claimed eighth (4:42.00), and senior
Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]) took ninth (4:44.22).
Gettysburg racked up fourth, fifth, and 10th in the 800-meter run out of 40 competitors. Petrecca placed fourth (2:01.28), Robinson tallied fifth (2:03.64), and junior
Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) took 10th (2:05.70).
Senior
Thad Cwiklinski (Glen Rock, Pa./York Catholic) placed eighth in a field of 35 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.55. He also produced a fourth-place time in the 400-meter dash (52.92).
