• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's track & field team opened day one with solid performances in the heptathlon and 5,000-meter run at the Patriot Open, which is hosted by George Mason University.

Meet Highlights:
• Freshman
Justin Canedy took home first in the 60-meter dash of the heptathlon with a time of 7.06. He finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.79m, second in the high jump with a mark of 2.05m and third in the long jump with a leap of 6.78m.

Matthew Su also took part in the heptathlon and notched a third-place finish in the 60m-dash with a time of 7.14. He finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 9.56m and notched a fifth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.75m. He won the long jump with a leap of 6.98m.
Mitchell Porter finished fifth in the shot put (9.83m), fourth in the high jump (1.84m), sixth in the long jump (6.24m) and eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.58).
• Hopkins placed five runners in the top-10 with
Jared Pangallozzi leading the way with a first-place time of 14:48.09.
Ollie Hickson finished in second with a time of 14:50.11 while
Panth Patel finished third with a time of 14:56.
Alex Doran finished sixth (14:59.14) while
Conner Delahanty (15:04.75) finished in eighth.
