HARRISONBURG, Va. - With two golfers in the top-10, the McDaniel College men's golf team currently sits in first place following the opening round of the Kinder-Williams Invitational hosted by Bridgewater College at Lakeview Golf Club.
After an opening round, 12-over par 300, the Green Terror hold a two-stroke lead over Roanoke and Southern Virginia. Just 10 strokes separate the top eight teams.
Senior
Ryan McGarry and junior
Joe Graceffa both finished in the top-10 after the first 18 holes with McGarry carding a four-under par 68 and Graceffa shooting a three-over par 75.
For McGarry, it is his fourth round out of six this fall in which he has shot par or better. He tied his season-low with six birdies and 10 pars. He finished three-under par on the course's 10 par 4 holes while his six birdies were the second-most in the first round behind Southern Virginia's Brogan Bennett who currently sits in second place after an opening round 69.
Graceffa shot a season-best 75, four strokes off of his career-low, as he totaled 12 pars while leading the field in par 3 scoring at one under par.
Sophomore
Hogan Schulze sits in 26th after carding a six-over par 78, including 10 pars and two birdies. He finished even par on the four par 3 holes and one under on the par fives.
Freshman
Charlie Dolan is 31st after an opening round seven-over par 79 and freshman
Sean Kelly is 37th following 11 pars en route to an eight-over par 80. Sophomore
Dell Grieser is 45th after a nine-over par 81.
The second and final round of the Kinder-Williams Invitational gets underway at 9 a.m. McDaniel is looking for its second first-place finish in three events this fall.
