WILMINGTON, Del.—Swarthmore College Men's Golf opened the 2018-19 season with a win at the Frederick W. Anton III Memorial Tournament at Rock Manor Golf Club on Sunday.
The Garnet finished first of 14 squads with a score of 301 on the par-71, 6,405-yard course. Swarthmore also had a second squad compete Sunday and that team finished in seventh with a 332.
Vamsi Damerla took second overall in the 72-player field with a score of 72. Damerla finished just one stroke behind the medalist from Ursinus. Sophomore Michael Brown carded a 74 for third-place overall. Dan Altieri shot a 77 to tie for fifth place. Nick DiMaio was one stroke back of Altieri for the team's fourth score.
Ankur Malik had Swarthmore's fifth score with a 79. On Swarthmore's B squad, freshman Christopher recorded the team's top score with a 78. Arjun Madan shot an 81, Max Katz-Balmes and Kevin Zheng shot 86s and Chris Zhang shot an 88.
Swarthmore is back in action at the Montgomery Cup on Saturday.
