The Muhlenberg wrestling team won four of nine contested bouts in a 28-13 loss at 17th-ranked Stevens.
The Ducks are the three-time defending Centennial Conference champions and have three wrestlers ranked in the top five in lower weight classes by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Those three won on two pins and a major decision against the Mules; combined with a forfeit at 125, that gave Stevens a 22-3 lead halfway through the match.
Sophomore
Michael Dougan (pictured above) accounted for Muhlenberg's points with a 9-5 decision at 149.
The Mules had the upper hand at the upper weights, capturing three of the final five bouts and coming close in a fourth. Junior
Jimmy Fratantoni (174), sophomore
Mike Cannon (184) and junior
Gennaro Cerminara (197) all took control early in their bouts and went on to win. Fratantoni notched his team-leading fourth major decision of the season, 9-0, to extend his personal winning streak to four.
Sophomore
Dylan Schwartz, competing at 165 against the 2017 CC 157-pound runner up, tied his bout at 6-6 on a reversal early in the third period. His opponent countered with a reversal of his own, however, and although Schwartz escaped he could not score another point and lost, 8-7.
