READING, Pa. – Behind shooting a season low team score of 322, the Ursinus College men's golf team collected a fourth-place finish as they hosted the Ursinus Spring Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
The Bears had ten members compete between two different squads at the Manor Golf Course, a par-70 course that stretches over 5,548-yards. Penn State Berks won the team title with a final tally of 310 (+30), Yeshiva University recorded a second-place finish with score of 312, while Rosemont rounded out the top-three with a final score of 321. The Bears red squad finished fourth just one-shot behind with a 322, Neumann University placed fifth with a 323, and Ursinus Gold took sixth with a 386.
Senior
T.J. Stanton paced the two Ursinus squads finishing tied for sixth overall signing for a seven-over 77. His score marks as a collegiate low with his previous season low of 87 coming at Moravian's Weyhill Classic back in September of 2022. Stanton opened with a par on the par-four seventh hole and moved to one-under with a birdie on the par-four eighth. After a bogey on hole eleven, Stanton bounced back with his second birdie of the day on the par-five 12
th hole. He would go on to collect two more birdies throughout his round and finishing with a three-over 37 on the back nine.
Junior
Evan Coffey earned a 12
th place finish, tallying a ten-over 80 just three shots shy of his best score of the season. Coffey's day was highlighted with a birdie on the par-four 16
th hole and finished his round with 10 pars, including three straight from holes six through eight. Senior
Jordan Pick finished just one shot behind Coffey with an 11-over 81 for a share of 13
th-place. Pick recorded back-to-back birdies on the par-4 first and par-3 second holes before finishing his round with seven pars.
Junior
Nick Troha earned a 19
th place finish overall after shooting a season-best 14-over 84. Troha's previous season best took place at the Ursinus Fall Invitational when he shot a 90 and finished tied for 25
th. He tallied a birdie on the par-4 first hole and closed out his round with seven pars over the back nine. Senior
Mike Magargee rounded out the five competitors for team Ursinus Red finishing 29
th overall with a final tally of 99. Magargee also recorded a birdie on the par-4 first hole and wrapped up his round with two pars.
First-year
Alec Plante led team Ursinus Gold signing for an 18-over 88 earning 22
nd overall. Plante secured a birdie on hole one and collected seven pars throughout his round. He recorded three straight pars twice throughout holes seven through nine and holes 15 through 17. Senior
Connor Huth and junior
Michael Nikolaou tied for 26
th overall finishing with final tallies of 97 (+27). Huth totaled four pars throughout his round, while Nikolaou wrapped up his day with three pars.
Senior
Joey Mullen (104, +34) finished 30
th overall while first-year
Slade Figard closed out his day 32
nd overall with a 126 (+56).
The Bears return to action on Monday as they travel to the Lehigh Country Club for the Muhlenberg Spring Invitational.
