GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team continued its push to the postseason by picking up its fifth-straight victory with a 9-0 win over Muhlenberg College Saturday afternoon at the Bullets Tennis Courts.
 
Gettysburg (9-4, 4-1 CC) remained in a tie for third in the Centennial Conference standings at the midway point of the conference schedule. The Bullets head into a key matchup with fifth-place Franklin & Marshall College (6-5, 4-2 CC) next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
 
The two Gettysburg seniors – Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) and Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) – took center stage on senior day with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) and sophomore Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) boosted their season record to 8-1 by winning their match at first doubles by the same score. Junior Ava Vanhelfteren (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) and sophomore Shaye Barnes (Rye, N.Y./Rye) rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
 
Martinovic and Class swept to easy straight-set wins in singles action. Martinovic picked up her 10th victory of the year 6-0, 6-3 at the top flight, while Class nailed down a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4. Vinges won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 and Boardman improved to 8-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3.
 
Vanhelfteren was flawless in a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles and Barnes completed the shutout by bouncing back from a first-set loss to win 2-6, 6-1, 10-3.
 
Gettysburg will seek its first win over F&M since 2011. The Diplomats won last season's meeting 6-3 with tiebreaker wins in two of the matches.
