Emily Mitchell and
Evan Giannetti made strong outdoor debuts for the Muhlenberg track and field teams at the Lafayette 8-Way Invitational.
The meet included athletes from all three NCAA divisions. The results for the Division I competitors were counted separately from the Division II and Division III performances.
Mitchell, whose stellar indoor season included a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the Centennial Conference Championships, won the long jump and placed second in the triple jump. She landed in the top 10 on the Mules' all-time performance list in both events - third in the long and seventh in the triple.
Giannetti, making his Muhlenberg debut, won the javelin with a throw of 178-4, good for eighth on the performance list.
Two returning CC placewinners also began the new season on a high note. Senior
Jess Voltaggio (pictured above left) won the discus in a personal best 124-2, and sophomore
Cameron Ford (pictured above right) set a personal best of 42-2 in the triple jump.
