Meet Highlights
  • Carnegie Mellon powered its way to 1-2 finishes in eight events, including both relays.
  • Sophomore Luke McKenna (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-ford) accounted for Gettysburg's first win in the 1,000 free. McKenna out-dueled Richie Dauksher with a strong push over the final 200 yards, breaking 30-seconds on each 50 split. He beat out Dauksher by nearly three seconds with a season-best time of 9:55.94.
  • Senior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) claimed the top spot in the 500 free by four seconds over John McNab. The Gettysburg senior kept a consistent pace throughout the race and closed with 27.94 over his final 50 to touch the wall in 4:46.79. Earlier in the meet, a strong start by McNab helped the Tartan swimmer hold off Proxmire for a win in the 200 free. Proxmire's time of 1:44.53 was just 0.11 behind McNab.
  • Justin Britton out-dueled junior Nick Cox (Purcellville, Va./Ponte Vedra) in a matchup of conference backstroke champions. Britton, who was the University Athletic Association (UAA) champion in the 100 back in 2019, overcame a strong start by Cox to capture first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.33. Cox, who was the Centennial Conference 100 back champ in 2020, finished second in 51.86. The Gettysburg junior also finished second to Britton in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.29.
  • Senior Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) was Gettysburg's top finisher in the 200 fly and 400 IM. Pickering finished third in the 200 fly at 1:58.65 and placed fifth in the 400 IM at 4:18.22.
