Baseball Downed by Dickinson

Probst Blasts Two Doubles

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Dickinson scored nine runs over the first five innings and the Red Devils handed Gettysburg a 10-1 setback in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action at a sunny, windy Kirchhoff Field Friday afternoon.

Senior Chuck Probst (North Bend, Pa./Bucktail) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles for the Bullets (9-19, 3-9 CC) while classmate Logan Sneed (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) was 2-for-4 with a triple.

The two sides split their season series for the second year in a row after the Bullets edged the Devils 10-9 on Tuesday.

Dickinson scored three runs over the first two innings versus freshman starter Dan Ball (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards), then surged to a 9-0 lead after plating six more runs over the fourth and fifth. After tossing a scoreless third inning, Ball (1-5) walked the first batters in the fourth before giving way to junior Sam Dobbins (West Harford, Conn./Hall).

Ball was charged with five runs over three innings while Dobbins worked five innings in relief. Dobbins also yielded five runs, but only two were earned. Freshman Danny Brace (Berwyn, Pa./Devon Prep) came on to fire a scoreless ninth inning for the Bullets.

Gettysburg scored its lone run in the sixth, when Sneed roped a two-out triple down the rightfield line before scoring on an infield single from senior Jack Seibert (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep).

Starting pitcher Ethan Collins (3-1) worked six innings and struck out six to earn the win for Dickinson.

The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they visit conference-leading Swarthmore in a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
