CARLISLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's swimming team featured two of the top three swimmers in eight of 11 races to get by Dickinson College 114-90 in a Centennial Conference dual Wednesday night.
Gettysburg (6-3, 4-2 CC) managed just five wins against Dickinson (9-3, 4-2 CC), but the team's depth came through with multiple swimmers finishing among the top three in the majority of the events, highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 free. Senior
Lindsay Hayden (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) led the way in 55.52. Junior
Kate Crilly (Shrewsbury, N.J./Ranney School) finished runner-up in 56.48 with freshman
Cate Kosko (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) taking third in 56.77.
The Bullets scored their first victory of the evening in the 200 free where sophomore
Katherine Sears (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown East) beat out teammate
Maggie Morehouse (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) by 1.52 seconds with a time of 2:02.20.
Freshman
Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) led another 1-2 finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.53. Junior
Katie Idank (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) touched the wall second in 2:18.79. Idank also took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.76) with first-year
Katie Cooper (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) winning the event with a time of 1:09.59.
Gettysburg capped the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The top foursome of Kosko, Hayden, senior
Johnna Hock (Timonium, Md./St. Pauls School for Girls), and Sears touched the wall in 1:42.72.
Additional second-place showings were turned in by junior
Karley Devine (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) in the 1,000 free (11:38.21), Hock in the 50 free (25.59), freshman
Katie Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) in the 100 butterfly (1:01.11), junior
Becca Maroney (Darien, Conn./Darien) in the 100 back (1:03.34), and Wojnar in the 500 free (5:24.67).
Gettysburg closes out its dual schedule at Franklin & Marshall College this Saturday at 1 p.m.
