SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse battled with the No. 2 team in the nation, the Franklin & Marshall College, at home on Saturday. The Garnet fought valiantly and pulled within three goals with 17 minutes left to play before ultimately falling 13-8.

Mackenzie Frost led Swarthmore with a trio of goals, recording a hat trick for the fourth time this season. Frost now has 20 goals on the season, tying her for the team lead with senior Kathryn Restrepo. Restrepo netted two goals and dealt out three assists for a team-high five points.

Tess Wild, Elizabeth Wainwright, and Kacy Hafertepe all scored a goal as well.

Frost and Wild each gathered three draw controls, and Sophie Peipher picked up two.

Betsy Cohen stopped 11 shots on goal, a season-high in saves for her. Cohen's save percentage is 53 percent on the season.

F&M scored first, but Swarthmore tallied a player-up goal in response. F&M took a 5-2 advantage midway through the first half, but a free-position goal by Restrepo got Swarthmore within two with 15:18 to go. F&M got hot to end the first half and led 9-3 by the halftime.

Swarthmore didn't go down without a fight, however, and strung together four consecutive goals in the second half.

Hafertepe's strike with 16:58 left in the second off a nice feed from Wild brought Swarthmore within three, 10-7.

Unfortunately the Garnet couldn't pull any closer and fell by a score of 13-8.

Swarthmore moves on to face the Ursinus College Bears on Saturday.
