Hopkins Defeats Franklin & Marshall, 55-32

Three Blue Jays Scored in Double-Figures in the Contest

The Basics
• Score: Johns Hopkins - 55, Franklin & Marshall - 32
• Records: JHU (21-3, 17-2 CC) • F&M (12-12, 9-10 CC)
• Location: Lancaster, PA • Mayser Gym
• The Short Story: Three Johns Hopkins women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Blue Jays defeated Franklin & Marshall, 55-32 on the road on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
• Diarra Oden scored eight of the 13 Blue Jay points in the first quarter but, in what was a back-and-forth opening 10 minutes of play, the Diplomats held a one-point lead at 14-13 heading into the second.
• The Blue Jays controlled the second quarter, outscoring F&M 11-0 to take a 24-14 lead. The Hopkins defense held the Dips scoreless until the 4:07 mark when Sarosha Parsons hit two free throws to make the score 24-16. Lexie Scholtz put Hopkins back up 10 with a jumper at 2:12 as the Blue Jays took a 26-18 lead into the half.
• Just like the second, the JHU offense and defense were the story as Hopkins opened the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 34-18 lead. A free throw from Lindsey Powers stopped the JHU run, but Scholtz scored four straight points to give the Blue Jays a 19 point-advantage and a jumper from Lillian Scott at 3:39 made the score 40-19. Scholtz hit a jumper as time expired in the third to give the Blue Jays a 20-point lead, 42-22, at the end of three.
• Maggie Wodicka hit a three to put Johns Hopkins up 45-22 and a three from Marissa Varnado at 4:17 gave the Blue Jays a 26-point lead at 53-27 as JHU defeated the Dips, 55-32.

What it Means
• With the victory, JHU has eclipsed the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2011-12 season,  and the 17 Centennial Conference wins are also the most since the 2011-12 campaign.
• The Blue Jays have swept the season series from the Dips and now hold a 49-30 lead in the all-time series, having won the last 13 meetings.
• As a team, Johns Hopkins has made 157 threes this season, which is one away from last year's mark and 15 away from tying the program mark for most threes in a season which was set in 2016-17.
• The 32 points are the fewest Hopkins has given up this season and marks the fewest points scored by a JHU opponent since the 2016-17 season when Johns Hopkins held Bryn Mawr to 32 points on January 12.

Inside the Box Score
• Oden tied her career-high with 16 points in the game and pulled down six rebounds while Scholtz finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
• Rory Cole earned her fifth double-double of the year as the senior finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
• The Hopkins defense caused 20 turnovers and had 10 steals while holding Franklin & Marshall to just 25% shooting from the floor.

Up Next
• The Blue Jays will conclude the regular season on Saturday, February 16 against Ursinus at Goldfarb Gym. Prior to the start of the 5 pm game, Hopkins will honor its seven seniors.
