SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Women's Basketball was down by one at halftime before it exploded for a 25-2 third-quarter run during Thursday night's 74-54 win over Bryn Mawr College.
The Garnet prevented the Owls from making a field goal over a 14-minute span that lasted from the 1:31 mark in the second quarter all the way to when there was 7:31 left in the fourth.
Swarthmore recorded season highs with 23 assists and 18 steals. The team's previous season high in steals was 12. The Garnet also tied a season high with nine made threes, and their eight turnovers were a season low.
In just 23 minutes on the court, Garnet freshman forward
Erin Cronin recorded the first double-double for any Swarthmore player this season as she tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 7-of-10 from the field.
Junior guard
Elizabeth Stiles, the team's leading scorer at 9.1 points per game, led the team in that category again against the Owls with 16 points. She also had five assists, three steals and three rebounds.
Freshman guard
Kim Kockenmeister had eight points, five rebounds and a career-high five steals. Her previous high was two.
In fact, all three of Swarthmore's freshmen had impressive nights. Forward
Karinna Papke scored in double figures for the second game in a row as she had 10 on Thursday.
Garnet junior guard
Abigail Pirron stuffed the stat sheet in the victory. She had nine points, four rebounds, three steals and a season-high six assists.
Swarthmore doesn't have any home games remaining on its schedule, but the Garnet are back in action on Saturday at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., at 2 p.m.
