FULL RESULTS
SWARTHMORE, Pa.–Over the weekend, the Swarthmore College women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its season by hosting the Swat Invite against competitors from Vassar, Haverford and La Salle, a Division I institution.
Sophomore
Shirline Wee was undefeated in singles and did not drop a set against her four opponents. Newcomer
Elise Talley won a pair of matches against players from Vassar and claimed two doubles victories with partner
Nicole Khorosh.
Ashley Gao went 2-2 overall in singles and scored a doubles win with Wee as well.
On Saturday,
Anna Scheibmeir rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Vassar's Lauren DiFazio and nearly followed up with a victory in her second match, ultimately falling by a 0-6, 7-6, 8-10 score.
Emma Kassan rounded out singles play on Sunday with a three-set win over Vassar's Kate Christensen and teamed with Wee for an 8-4 victory against a La Salle pair.
Junior
Rachel Hechinger triumphed in her first two matches before retiring in the third and just missed out on a doubles victory with partner
Shivani Gupta before falling 8-9.
May Dong ended the weekend on a high note with a hard-fought 6-2, 0-6, 10-2 result against Haverford's Courtney Ahmed.
The Garnet will conclude the fall season at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Mary Washington, which begins on Friday, Sep. 22.
