Box Score 2 WESTMINSTER, Md.--Swarthmore College Softball lost two games versus McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon, falling to 13-7 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference this season.
Game One: McDaniel 4, Swarthmore 1
Senior pitcher
Emily Bowman couldn't hold off the Green Terror (13-13, 7-3) early, allowing a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. She'd go on to strike out five batters over 5.1 innings of work in the loss, brining her record to 3-2.
Sophomore
Gabriella Natoli scored Swarthmore's only run in the top of the sixth on a pass ball.
Freshman
Victoria Overbeck reached base twice, doubling and walking.
Game Two: McDaniel 9, Swarthmore 3
The Garnet took an early lead as sophomore
Kennedy Kings drove in junior
Marit Vike with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. Kings accounted for two RBIs in the loss, and she now leads the conference with 26 this season.
However, McDaniel responded with seven runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.
The three scoreless innings of relief pitching from senior
Mary Olesnavich were a bright spot for Swarthmore.
Natoli's single in the top of the fifth resulted in Swarthmore's last run of the day as it allowed junior
Elizabeth Curcio to reach home on an error.
Swarthmore will try to bounce back in a doubleheader at Franklin and Marshall beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
