Sophomore
Cece Peden scored two goals to lead the Muhlenberg women's soccer team to a 3-0 ECAC first-round win over Hood.
Six minutes into the first half, Peden scored the go-ahead goal by following up on her shot off a corner kick. After a scramble in front of the goal, Peden was there to net the ball when it became loose.
Peden's second goal came 23 minutes into the first half when she received a long pass in the Mules' offensive end and beat a defender one-on-one to place the ball in the top-right corner.
With two minutes to go in the first half, there was another scramble in front of the goal following a corner kick. This time, freshman
Morgan McCauley scored for the Mules' in the first goal of her career.
The Blazers (11-9-2) and the Mules (9-6-2) each had eight shots in the second half. The Mules defense held Hood to only one shot on goal, however. Senior goalkeeper
Libby Juliano saved that shot five minutes into the second half for her only save of the game.
The Mules will face Alfred, who advanced over DeSales in penalty kicks 9-8 after a 1-1 draw, in the quarterfinals at noon on Sunday.
