The Muhlenberg wrestling team won two of three matches at the Mule Duals, easily defeating Middlesex County College and Rowan College of Gloucester County before dropping its Centennial Conference opener to Merchant Marine.

Fast pins and technical falls were the story of the first two matches: The Mules (16-5) won nine of 13 contested bouts, five on pins in the first period (four in the first minute) and two on tech falls.

In the Middlesex match, freshman Matt Ferrante (133) needed just 41 seconds to record his first career pin, and classmate Adam Lizak (174) flattened his opponent in 58 seconds.

Freshman Luca Colestock (197) and junior Scott Schaeffer (heavyweight) capped the Rowan match by pinning their opponents in 27 and 35 seconds, respectively.

Junior Brian Jamison (157) notched his first career technical fall at the end of the first period against Rowan. Senior Jimmy Fratantoni (184) also picked up a tech, setting a school record with his seventh of the season. 

Fratanoni (pictured above) wrestled a tough match against a Merchant Marine opponent who is just outside the top 10 in the D3wrestle.com rankings, falling 4-1 on a late takedown.

Junior Austin Sherman and senior Gennaro Cerminara were responsible for the Muhlenberg wins in the Merchant Marine match. Sherman recorded his 13th career major decision with an 8-0 shutout, while Cerminara narrowly avoided being pinned at the end of the first period before reversing his opponent and scoring a pin 21 seconds into the second period. It was his 80th career win.
