COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team placed four individuals in the top six of their respective weight classes to fuel a seventh-place finish for the Blue Jays at the Racich Rumble on Saturday. The Blue Jays accumulated 21.5 points with individual finishes of second, third, fourth and sixth.

Powell Second at 149
Freshman Connor Powell was the top performer for the Blue Jays on the day as he finished as the runner-up at 149. Powell opened with a pair of bonus-point victories as he scored a 16-0 technical fall and added a 15-2 major decision in his second match. In the quarterfinals, he added an 8-1 win over Alvernia's Brandon Florez-Salazar and methodically worked his way past Elizabethtown's Shane Strausser, 7-1, to move into the finals. There, he dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Camden County College's Finnegan McFadden to finish second.

Paul, Osborne Reach Consolation Final
Graduate student
Joe Paul placed third at 174 and fellow graduate student
Jared Osborne was fourth at 157 for the Blue Jays. Paul went 6-1 on the day with two wins by fall, two by decision and two by default to earn his third-place showing, while Osborne won five of his seven bouts on the day with three wins by decision, one technical fall and one major decision to his credit.

Lorin Sixth at 133
Senior
Brent Lorin was JHU's fourth and final place-winner on the day as he placed sixth at 133. Lorin won five of his six matches with all four wins earning bonus points as three came via major decision and one by pin.

The Blue Jays will return to action on Sunday, November 20 when they travel to McDaniel to participate in the Sam Case Duals.
