• The Short Story: In a rematch of last season's Centennial Conference Tournament Championship, it was the Johns Hopkins baseball team coming out with the one-run victory as the Blue Jays held off a late Swarthmore rally to win the game, 7-6, on Tuesday afternoon at Babb Field.

How it Happened
• For the fourth straight game, Nate Davis hit a ball out of the ballpark as his three-run shot in the first gave JHU a quick 3-0 lead.
• Bunting faced a bases loaded, no out situation in the top of the third and got Cole Beeker swinging for out one and got Jackson Roberts to line out to left for the second out. An infield single plated the first Garnet run of the game, but Bunting got another fly out to left to end the inning and leave the bases loaded.
• A bases loaded walk to Matthew Ritchie followed by an RBI single from Tim Kutcher gave JHU a 5-1 advantage in the fourth and a solo shot by Chris Festa in the fifth gave the Blue Jays a 6-1 lead. Pete Manny singled home Chris DeGiacomo later in the inning to put Hopkins up by six.
• Swarthmore rallied, scoring five unanswered runs between the sixth and seventh innings to cut the Blue Jays lead to one at 7-6. The Garnet threatened in the eighth inning as they put runners on the corners with one out but John Donohue got Beeker to ground out to second to end the inning and preserve the one-run Blue Jay lead.
• With two outs in the top of the ninth, the Garnet got two runners on against Carmichael but the freshman got Luke Mutz to ground out to Mark Lopez at second and secure the 7-6 Hopkins win.

• With the win, the Blue Jays have clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament as JHU is the only team that has qualified for every tournament.

Inside the Box Score
• Festa now has a 12-game hitting streak as he went 2-3 at the plate with one RBI.
• Davis now has 13 home runs this season which is tied for the fifth most in a single season in program history. The junior has hit a home run in four consecutive games and 9 of the last 11. He finished the game 2-4 with three RBIs.
• Kutcher 2-4 from the leadoff spot as he scored one run and knocked in one.
• Bunting improves to 10-0 on the year as he is now just two wins away from tying the program record for wins in a season. His 10 victories are currently tied for the fourth most in a single season. The senior pitched five innings as he allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and four strikeouts. He surrendered no walks in a start for the fourth time this season as he has given up just six walks in 55 innings this year.
