Round One Results
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) carded a 72 to top the leaderboard and Gettysburg College was one stroke back of the lead in the team standings following the opening round of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational at The Bridges Golf Club Saturday.
As a team, Gettysburg shot 305 and trails Lynchburg University by one stroke with both Goucher College (306) and McDaniel College (307) right behind. A total of 18 teams and 91 golfers are competing this weekend.
Sethre-Hofstad was the lone player to shoot par on the 6,713-yard course at The Bridges. The senior, who is looking for his second title of the season and seventh of his career, holds a one-stroke lead over Connor McCarthy from Shenandoah University.
Seniors
Christian Haldeman (Center Valley, Pa./Moravian Academy) and
Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) are in the title hunt after tying for eighth with 76s. Haldeman, the reigning Centennial Conference Golfer of the Week, won his first career title last Monday at the Dickinson Spring Invitational, while Harcourt is gunning for his 11th career first-place finish.
Freshman
Tristan Hochman (Westport, Conn./Staples) and junior
Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) rounded out Gettysburg's lineup with an 81 and 84, respectively. Hochman is tied for 37th entering the final round, while Murphy is tied for 58th.
Gettysburg will tee off at 12:30 p.m. for Sunday's final round.
