GRANTHAM, Pa. and LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior
Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) won the long jump to lead the Gettysburg College women's track and field team on Saturday at the Messiah Invitational.

Meredith posted a convincing victory, winning by over a foot. She leaped 18-2 1/2 to beat out 19 other competitors. In addition, Meredith placed sixth in a field of 33 in the 100-meter dash (13.18).

Senior
Ellery Lyon (Sheldonville, Mass./King Philip) also performed well, notching a personal record of 123-8 in the javelin while placing second out of 29 competitors. Lyon also came in seventh out of 41 competitors in the shot put (36-7 1/2).

The Bullets turned in several additional impressive performances, including a fifth-place showing by freshman
Devyn Heinzerling (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) among 32 competitors in the 800-meter run (2:30.66). In addition, freshman
Sam Miller (Newtown Square, Pa./Penncrest) came in sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.90) while sophomore
Emily Wielk (West Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart) tied for seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:04.31).

The Bullets accumulated 43.5 points and placed ninth out of 16 teams. Messiah won the team title with 192.5 points.

Several Bullets also competed at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday, and a small portion of the team will return for the second day of the meet on Sunday.
