CHICAGO - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team placed sixth overall at the D3 Shootout on Friday and Saturday. The Garnet swam against four nationally-ranked programs in the highly-competitive two-day tournament.
Cami Wilson highlighted the trip with stellar performances in all three of his individual events. The first-year entered the program's top-10 in the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly as he continues to impress in sprint events.
DAY ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilson finished fifth overall in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.27. The reigning Centennial Swimmer of the Week moved into 10th all-time on the program's all-time leaderboard.
- Dylan Ling was fourth in the 200 butterfly with a 1:55.72 mark. The freshman moved into eighth all-time on the team's all-time leaderboard.
- Joey Lukner placed sixth in the 100 backstroke after touching the wall in 52.50. Wilson also swam a 52.65 to move into 10th all-time in program history.
- Andrew Karpenko touched the wall in the 400 IM at 4:16.87 to finish sixth overall.
DAY TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilson finished fifth overall in the top final of the 100 butterfly. The first-year touched the wall at 50.21 as he moved into sixth all-time on the team's leaderboard. Ling also swam in the event with a time of 52.02.

Ben Freeman placed sixth in the top final of the 500 freestyle with a 4:44.24 mark.
- Karpenko earned a sixth place effort in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:10.05 effort. The junior then closed out his weekend with a fifth place finish in the 200 IM as he touched the wall in 1:58.23.
- Swarthmore was third in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of
Ben Wesley, Wilson, Ling and
Ethan Marotte recorded a time of 1:25.10 to earn a top-three finish.
