SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Field Hockey suffered its first defeat of the young 2018 season against Arcadia University on Sunday at Clothier Field.

The Garnet (1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore forward Ali Baratta in the 10th minute of the game. She scored the goal by deflecting freshman teammate Samantha Meacock's shot that came in from the top of the circle. Meacock was awarded with the assist, her second of the season.

Swarthmore wouldn't score again as the Knights (1-1) scored three goals unanswered, two in the first half and one in the second. Arcadia scored all three of its following penalty corners. Each time Knights senior forward Gabby Sedares retrieved the pass from the corner and lofted the ball toward the goal. The first time Swarthmore senior goalie Zelda Bank deflected the shot, but an Arcadia forward scored on the rebound. Sedares scored the next two. Bank made eight saves in the game.

The Garnet are back at Clothier Field for their third straight home contest as they take on Susquehanna at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
