SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 20 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer jumped on the McDaniel College Green Terror early in Saturday's home Centennial Conference and never looked back. Swarthmore scored 46 seconds into the game and tallied a pair of second-half goals for a 3-0 win.
The Garnet improved to 7-0-1 and 2-0-1 in Centennial Conference play and dropped McDaniel to 4-3 and 1-2 in league action.
Sydney Covitz picked up a bouncing ball crossed into the box and snapped off a shot from about 12 yards out to put Swarthmore ahead in the first minute. Holding onto the 1-0 lead, Swarthmore continued to press and fired off 11 more shots in the first half.
Swarthmore registered 12 more shots in the second period and limited McDaniel to just six shots the entire game.
Lizzie King scored in the 53rd minute after tracking down a chip shot from Caroline Coats that got away from McDaniel's goalkeeper. King pushed in the ball right on the doorstep for her second goal of the season. She added her third marker of the year in the 59th minute. Marin McCoy made a great run to the end line and crossed the ball back central for King who tucked in the shot just inside the left post.
Amy Shmoys recorded five saves in the win.
The Garnet take on nationally-ranked No. 14 Arcadia University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
