MEDIA, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country opened the 2018 season with a third place finish at the Bryn Mawr Invitational on Friday. At the rain-soaked Rose Tree Park, the Garnet put together a score of 62 for the 5K race.
Swarthmore's top four runners finished in the top 13 overall and the fifth placed 24th.
Kevin Hudson led Swarthmore with a sixth-place finish and a time of 17:53.4, and Vaughn Parts crossed the line just behind him at 17:53.7.
Brendan Penfold and Lucas Heinzerling ran together and completed the run in 18:06.0 and 18:06.3, respectively, for 12th and 13th place.
Freshman John Duarte's time of 18:55.1 registered for Swarthmore's fifth score.
Swarthmore returns to action on Sept. 8 for its Alumni Meet.
