Results
SALEM, Va. – The Gettysburg College women's indoor track and field team finished with 12 top-10 performances as they competed at the Roanoke Noke Elite Meet on Saturday.
Gettysburg finished with a team score of 20 to place sixth out of six schools. Carnegie Mellon University claimed the top spot with 173 points, Washington & Lee University had 137 points, and Roanoke College was third with 119.5 points.
Senior
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and freshman
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) both notched fourth-place showings to pace the track. DeMichael clocked 2:26.22 in the 800-meter run while O'Brien finished with a time of 19:41.35 in the 5,000-meter run.
Senior
Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) also cracked into the top-10 in the 800-meter, finishing ninth in a time of 2:44.84.
In the mile, freshman
Grace Corcoran (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) placed sixth with a time of 5:34.17.
Senior
Paige Wesolowski (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket Regional), junior
Sullie Desmond (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), DeMichael, and Corcoran claimed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay to finish with a 4:41.15 time.
Freshmen
Katie Seccafico, (Halesite, N.Y./Huntington),
Nicole Mangaroo, (Brooklyn, N.Y./Polytch Prep Country Day), and
Anna Pienkos (North Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) finished among the top-10 in the high jump. Seccafico registered seventh (4'9.75"), Mangaroo collected ninth (4'7.75"), and Pienkos took 10th (4'6"). Mangaroo also tallied ninth-place in the triple jump, leaping 29'0.5".
Freshmen
Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) grabbed seventh (32'3.75) and
Jessica Alessi (Nassau, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) finished ninth (28'7") in the shot put. Alessi also recorded a 10th place showing in the weight throw, tossing 32'8.5".
The Bullets will next compete at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 9:30 a.m.
