The Short Story: The 17
th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team rallied to score four goals in the final 12 minutes to beat host York, 5-4, Wednesday night.

How it Happened
• For the fifth time this season, Hopkins had a game delayed by lightning. Tonight's game was delayed during warmups and the start time was pushed back an hour and 40 minutes.
• York jumped on Hopkins early, scoring the game's first goal just 11:49 into the game. Lindsay Nye took a shot that was saved by junior
Jodie Baris, but Dana Meehling collected the rebound and lifted it high into the Blue Jay cage.
• The Blue Jays controlled most of the play in the first half, but five saves from goalie Sam Keating and a defensive save by Julea Truskey gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead at the half.
• The Spartans struck even faster in the second half, capitalizing on a penalty corner. Meehling lifted the ball over the Blue Jay defense and Nye banged it home to put York up 2-0 just 2:12 into the second.
• A little over 14 minutes later, Meghan Heary took a long pass from Greta Plappert and deflected a shot off the pads of Baris to push the home team's lead to three. That goal ignited a flurry of goals that saw the teams combine for seven goals in the final 17 and a half minutes.
• Hopkins got one back less than two minutes later to cut the deficit to two. Sophomore
Seema Sajjan inserted on a corner to freshman
Sarah Matyas, who fired a rocket from just inside the circle past Keating at 53:21. Two minutes after that, the lead was back to three when Nye buried her own rebound off a Baris save.
• The Blue Jays pulled back within two at the 56:11-mark when freshman
Izzy Thompson tapped in a pass across the mouth of the cage from sophomore
Michaela Corvi. Junior
Katie McErlean then converted a penalty stroke and the Spartans' lead was down to one with 9:21 to play.
• With less than three minutes to play,
Grace Hillman sent a long ball into the Spartans' circle and a defender attempted to clear the ball. Freshman
Abby Birk bounced on the loose ball however and slotted home the tying goal at 67:43.
• Just 66 seconds later, Hopkins had its first lead of the game. Freshman
Maddie Brown-Scherer dribbled along the endline and sent a long pass across the mouth of the cage. A diving Corvi got her stick on the ball and knocked it past Keating. Â

• Hopkins' five goals are the most scored since a 7-0 win over Bryn Mawr on September 16, 2017.
• The Blue Jays' 7-1 record is their best start since the 2009 squad also went 7-1 in its first eight games. Â
